Hi, I'm Niko.

I'm a Canadian designer and creative technologist with roots in Montenegro and the Balkans, working at the intersection of UI/UX, brand strategy, and digital media. I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Media, Art, and Performance with a concentration in Creative Technologies at the University of Regina (expected 2025).

What I Do

My work blends visual design, interface thinking, and storytelling. I've designed over 200 brand identities and logo systems, always approaching design through both psychological and philosophical lenses. I care deeply about how people experience technology—visually, emotionally, and socially.

Current Work

I'm one of the founders of Antuerp, an independent media company and collective blog built with friends. Antuerp combines investigative writing, editorial design, and visual storytelling, currently expanding into video and platform development. We built it from the ground up—from the branding and UX to the editorial strategy.

Previously, I interned at Quips.app, an AI-powered note-taking tool (now sunsetted), where I led font selection, icon design, and branding. I crafted a distinct visual language for the app during its development stages, contributing to both UI consistency and product identity.

Selected Experience

  • Platform Design: Shaped user experience and visual cohesion for emerging social platforms, including T2/Pebble Social, collaborating with ex-Twitter and Google team members.

  • Brand Development: Created over 200 unique logo and identity systems for clients ranging from startups to public institutions.

  • Media & Editorial: Built Antuerp as both a publication and a design experiment, merging journalism and new media aesthetics.

  • Social Media Strategy: Advised creators, journalists, and public figures on design execution, platform optimization, and content packaging.

Thought Leadership

In my essay, "Encoded Bias - How Everyday Systems Reflect Us", I explore how design choices in both physical and digital realms embed human biases into everyday systems. This work underscores my commitment to creating inclusive and equitable design solutions that challenge the notion of technology as neutral.

Tools & Skills

Fluent in design systems, iconography, typography, and brand frameworks. Proficient in Figma, Framer, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and familiar with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). I’m multilingual—fluent in English, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, and Montenegrin—bringing a cross-cultural lens to every project.
